Biography
He was elected as Member of Parliament for Clackmannan & Kinross 1831-41. He was appointed as First Naval Lord of the Admiralty in 1835-41 & 1846-7. He was appointed as an Elder Brother of Trinity House. He was appointed as HM Lord Lieutenant of Kinross 1839-54. He was appointed as Governor Greenwich Hospital 1847.

He was appointed as a Midshipman RN serving in H.M.S. Monarch and as an Acting-Lieutenant RN 1795. He served in H.M.S. Victorious 1795. He served in H.M.S. Swift (In command) 1796.
