He was the President, of the Navy League of Canada. He was an Honorary Member Royal Marines Association Canada. He owned a Grampian 26,the Lochiel.

He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/08/1941). He served in Toronto Division RCNVR 1941. He served in HMCS Kings (Officer Training Establishment) 1941. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/08/1940). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/08/1942) (Later backdated to 18/08/1941). He served in HMC ML-103 (In command) 1942. He served in HMCS Stadacona on Staff of Captain D 1943. He served in HMCS Lindsay 1943 as Executive Officer 1943. He served in HMCS Niobe for Officer Pool 1944. He served in HMCS Lindsay. (He was invalided 19/04/1945.) He was appointed as an Honorary Commander at HMCS York. (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
