He attended McGill University.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 29/06/1941) (Later backdated to 29/06/1940)). In 1944 he served in HMCS Avalon. In 1944 he served in HMCS Burrard. In 1945 he served in HMCS Naden. (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as an A/Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 29/06/1946). He served in NHQ. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 29/06/1946). He served in HMCS Magnificent as Medical Officer 1948. He served in HMCS Shearwater for Flying Training 1951. He was Awarded Wings 1951. He served in HMCS Shearwater as Principal Medical Officer 1951. He served in HMCS Magnificent as Principal Medical Officer 1951. (He was retired in 1952.)
