Biography
After his naval service he was a Master Mariner in the merchant marine. He commanded the freighter C.T.M.A.

He was appointed as a Skipper (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 15/08/1941). He served in HMCS Arras 1941. He was appointed as a Mate (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 12/04/1944). In 1944 he served in HMCS Arras. He was appointed as a Lieuttenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 12/04/1945). He served in HMCS Arras (In command) 1945. (He was demobilized 1946.) He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (On the retired list with seniority dated 12/04/1945). (He was released.)

Anecdotes
He was awarded the MBE "During a fire in HMCS Arras, Mate Arsenault, unheeding of his own safety, stood by his job and rendered all assistance possible in getting his ship, which was blazing furiously, away from the burning jetty. As a result, he suffered burns about the face and hands and throughout the entire action set a splendid example to the men working with him."
