He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 30/03/1940). (Mobilized for World War Two service 30/03/1940) He served in HM ML-447 (In command) 1944. (He was killed in action 28/03/1942 during a raid on St. Nazaire France by shore fire. He was Mentioned in Despatches "For great bravery and unshaken devotion to duty in control of a gun in his motor launch, and afterward in trying to take a rope onto a jetty heavily enfiladed by intense enemy fire (during an attack on St. Nazaire)." |
