He was raised in modest rural Saskatchewan. He attended a one room schoolhouse, and later attended boarding school at Luther College in Regina. John went on to earn an honours BA, and MA in mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan (1963). He was living in Fort Qu'Appelle SK at the time of his recruitment into the navy. |
