He was appointed as a Temporary Skipper RNCVR (With seniority dated 13/09/1917). He served in HMC T.R.-6 (In command) 1917. In 1918 he served in HMCS T.R.-24 (Auxiliary Patrol Trawler) (In command) 1918. (He was demobilized.)
