Biography
After his naval service he was the President and Chairman of Southam Press Limited, President of the Canadian Press, and Vice-chairman of the Commonwealth Press Union.

(He served in the RCNVR Supplementary Reserve 1938). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 09/04/1938). (Mobilized for World War Two service 03/03/1940). He served in HMCS Stone Frigate (Second Course) for Training 1940. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 09/04/38). He served in HMCS Stadacona for Gunnery Course 1940. He served in HMCS Stadacona in charge of Gunnery School 1941. He served in HMCS St. Laurent as Gunnery Officer 1941. He served in HMCS Stadacona for Gunnery School 1942. He served in HMCS Naden in command of Gunnery School 1942. He served in HMCS Stadacona as additional for Command Course 1943. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1944). He served in HMCS Lethbridge (In command) 1944. He served in HMCS Meon (Ninth Escort Group) (In command) 1944. He was appointed as an A/Commander (Temp.) RCNVR 1944. He served in HMCS Dunver (In command) and as Senior Officer 27th Escort Group 1944. He was appointed as a Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1945). He served in HMCS Cornwallis as Executive Officer 1945. (He was demobilized -Transferred to Retired List 06/10/1945) He was appointed as a Commander RCN(R) (Retired) (With seniority dated 01/07/1945). (He was qualified for gunnery duties.)
