Biography
After his naval service he flew for Pacific Coastal Airways as pilot and dispatcher. Afterwards farmed in Saskatchewan for twelve years, flying for BC Government for two summers.

He was appointed as a Midshipman (A) (SSA) RN (With seniority dated 21/11/1938). He served in H.M.S. Hermes for RN Pilot's Course #3. He served in H.M.S. Courageous for Training. He served in the Royal Naval College Greenwich for EFTS at Gravesend. He served in RAF #1 FTS Netheravon. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (A) (SSA) RN (With seniority dated 01/07/1939). He served in RAF Gosport for Torpedo Dropping Course 1939. He served in H.M.S. Argus for RN Squadron (Swordfish) for Deck Landing Instruction 1939. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) (SSA) RN.
