He served in the Union Steamship Co. 1904-1910. (He was qualified as a Master Mariner (Extra Master) #22179). He was the senior pilot of the Empire Seamship Co. (He was qualified as Vancouver Harbour Pilot) He was a founder of the Vancouver Pilotage Association of which he was the first pilot appointed in 1905. In 1918 he was the President of the Canadian Navigator's Federation (later the Canadian Merchant Service Guild). |
