He received an Athlone Fellowship. After his naval service he worked as a professional engineer with Atomic Energy Canada Ltd. And Ontario Hydro. He he was instrumental in the development of nuclear energy as a power source. He retired from in 1989. He was the twin brother of Derek Bate. |

He served in HMCS Warrior for Sea Training 1945. He served in HMCS Wallaceburg for Sea Training 1945. (CFR). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (L) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1948). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (L) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1950). He served in HMCS Ontario 1951. (He was attached to the RNR 1954-1958). He served in H.M.S. Calliope (Newcastle-on-Tyne) 1954-55. He served in H.M.S. Eaglet (Liverpool) 1955-1958. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (L) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1958). He served in HMCS York as Technical Officer. (He retired 1963.) |
