He was the brother of Flight Sub-Lieutenant David Leland Bawlf RNAS.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 1917). He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS. He served in 3 (Naval) Wing RNAS 1917. He was appointed as a Flight Commander RNAS 1918. He served in 210 RAF Squadron 1918. (He was demobilized.)
