After his naval service he went into the Ontario Department of Tourism. He created the mythical character 'Joe Mufferaw' and was the official storyteller and 'ambassador' of the Ottawa Valley. |

He was appointed as a Naval Airman 2/c (Temp.) RNVR (With seniority dated 01/10/1943). He served in H.M.S. Seaborne 1943. He served in RNAS Lee-on-Solent 1944. He served in H.M.S. St. Vincent for #63 Pilot Training Course 1944, A/Leading Naval Airman RNVR 01/07/1944. He served in RCAF St. Eugene for #13 Elementary Flying Training School 1944. He served in RCAF Kingston for #31 Service Flying Training School 1944. He served in RNAS Lee-on-Solent 1945, (Transferred to RCNVR). He served in HMCS Stadacona 1945. (He was demobilized after hospitalization 19/07/1945.) |
