He was the son of H.O. Bell-Irving. He married Anne Pybus in 1912. After his naval service he was a production manager working for his father, H.O. Bell-Irving. |

He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RNVR. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RNVR. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RNVR 1917. He served in HM Drifter IFS (In command) 1917. He served in R.N. Drifters in the English Channel. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RNVR. He served in the First World War as a Sub-Lieutenant (RNAS). (Transferred to RCNVR). He was appointed as Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 11/10/1939). (Mobilized for World War Two service 11/09/1939). He served On Staff of Commanding Officer Pacific Coast for Duty with Extended Defence Staff 1939. He served with the RN for duty. He was appointed as A/Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (WHA) . He served in HMS Shrapnel (Southampton UK) for Miscellaneous Duties 1945. He was present at the D-Day invasion as a Salvage Officer. (He was demobilized on 02/03/1946.) |
