He grew up in the small village of Wallace, Nova Scotia and came from a seafaring and ship building family. After his naval career he worked as a civil engineer in the Federal Government. |

He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (4th Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/08/1917). In 1918 he served in HMCS Stadacona (Auxiliary Patrol Ship) as Additional for Hydrophone Instruction. In 1917 se served in HMCS Lady Evelyn as Wireless Officer. In 1918 he served in HMCS Acadia as Wireless Officer. He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (3rd Class) RNCVR 1918. In 1918 he served in HMC T.R. 16 as Wireless Officer. In 1919 he served in HMCS Thiepval as Wireless Officer. (He was demobilized in 1919.) |
