Biography
He grew up in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He was living in Leduc ON at the time of his recruitment. in 1973 he joined the NS Department of Adult Vocational Education where he was involved with the Job Readiness Training Programs.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCNVR. (He had Second World War service.) In 1945 he served in HMCS Prince Robert. (He was demobilized.) He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) (UNTD) RCN(R) 1947. (CFR) He served in HMCS Nonsuch for UNTD 1947. He was appointed as A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN. He was appointed as Lieutenant RCN. In 1957 he served in HMCS Cowichan as Executive Officer. He was appointed as Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/10/1959). He served in HMCS Cayuga as Executive Officer. He served in HMCS Gatineau as Executive Officer. In 1965 he served in HMCS Stadacona for Service Conditions and Welfare Office. in 1968 was Commanding Officer of the CF Personnel Selection Unit (Atlantic). (He was released 1968.)

Anecdotes
He received a MA (Education) Degree from SMU and was awarded the NS Teachers Union Gold Medal. In 1986, he joined the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust and was with the working group restoring HMCS Sackville. He was her Commanding Officer from 1991 to 1994.
