Military Service
He served in H.M.S. Superbe in 1726. He served in H.M.S. Canterbury in 1729. He served in H.M.S. Hector. He served in H.M.S. Namur. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 25/05/1732). He served in H.M.S. Hector in 1732. He served in H.M.S. Grafton in 1735 and H.M.S. Leopard (In command) in 1736. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 12/03/1737). He served in H.M.S. Shoreham (In command) 1738. He served in H.M.S. Prince Frederick (In command) in 1740. He served in H.M.S. Dreadnought in 1742. He served in H.M.S. Royal Sovereign (In command) in 1744. He served in H.M.S. Namur (In command) in 1745. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral of the Blue (With seniority dated 15/07/1747). He was appointed as a Rear Admiral of the White. He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral of the Blue. He was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of HM Ships and Vessels in North America (Flag in H.M.S. Torbay) in 1755. He was appointed as a General of Royal Marines and as a Lord of the Admiralty. He received the unanimous thanks of the House of Commons (06/12/1758) for his service in North America. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for Truro in 1742. He was appointed as a Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty in 1751. He was the son of Hugh Boscawen First Viscount Falmouth. He attempted to intercept French reinforcements to Louisbourg in 1755 but as conditions were unfavourable most of the ships slipped through. In 1758 he commanded the naval portion of the capture of Louisbourg.
