Biography
He was qualified as a lawyer in Saskatoon with the law firm of Rees, Smigelski . He was the Crown Prosecutor in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan's first Ombudsman. He entered public service with the City of Saskatoon's legal department. He was appointed as a Magistrate and later as a Provincial Court Judge. He was Saskatchewan's first Ombudsman and first Chief Judge of the Provincial Court. He was Chairman of the Wage and Price Commission and the Public Utilities Review Commission where he remained until his retirement. During his retirement he served as a part-time judge of the Provincial Court.
 
Military Service
He was a Sea Cadet, where in 1951 he was chosen to attend an Empire Training Camp in England. There he received the Best Class Leader of the Empire Award. He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1952. He was awarded him the National Defence telescope as the Best Senior UNTD Cadet. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/05/1957). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (With seniority dated 09/05/1963). He was appointed as an A/Commander RCN(R). He was appointed as a Commander (RCN(R)). He served in HMCS Unicorn as Commanding Officer 1963-1967. (His skill and leadership was rewarded with the Silver Destroyer Award for Best Reserve Division in Canada. ) (He was released.) (He was qualified for communications duties and with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
