Biography
A prominent businessman he joined the RCNVR in the year of its formation. He was the first reserve naval officer to attain the rank of Commodore.

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNVR (With seniority dated 27/06/1916). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RNVR (With seniority dated 27/06/1917). (Transferred to RCNVR). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCNVR 1923. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/08/1929). He served in HMCS Champlain. He served in HMCS Saguenay. He was appointed as a Commander RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1937). He served as Naval Officer-in-Charge Montreal Division RCNVR 1934-39. (Mobilized for World War Two service) 01/09/1939). He served in HMCS Donnacona as Commanding Officer 1939-40. He served in NHQ 1940. He was appointed as a Captain RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1942). He served in HMCS York as Commanding Officer Reserve Divisions and as Naval Officer-in-Charge Toronto 1942. He was appointed as a Commodore (2nd Class) RCNVR (With seniority dated 25/05/1942). He was appointed as a Commodore RCNVR (With seniority dated 25/05/1944). He served in NSHQ as Commanding Officer Reserve Divisions 1945. (He was demobilized 02/04/1946.) He was appointed as a Commodore RCN(R) (With seniority dated 15/10/1945). (He was released.) (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
