He grew up in Victoria BC and started work as a bank clerk there. After demobilization he joined the Aerial League of Canada. He delivered the first air mail from Victoria BC to Seattle WA USA. He and Norman Goddard formed the Vancouver Island Aerial Service. He was a flight instructor in the Commercial Aviation School based at Esquimalt BC. He moved to California in 1923 establishing a flying school at Oakland CA USA. He retired in 1946 at Claremont CA USA. |

In 1914 he enlisted as a Private (C.E.F.). In 1917 he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. He took flight training and earned his pilot wings. He was commissione as a Pilot Officer (RFC). He served in No. 84 Squadron in France. In 1921 he joined the Canadian Air Force as a Flight-Lieutenant CAF. (He was released.) |
