He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 02/01/1956). He served in HMCS Queen Charlotte for UNTD 1955-1956. In 1957-1958 he served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD. (Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 12/02/1962). (He was released.)
