Biography
He took flying training at the Stinson Flying School in San Antonio TX USA 01/1916. He was awarded a pilot certificate after five hours of instruction. In 1919 he then joined the family bicycle business. He later went into the apple business in Manotick ON. He was the father of Sub-Lieutenant (A) Arthur Gordon Bysshe.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 03/1916). He served in RNAS Portsmouth for Navigation and Gunnery Training 1916. He served in RNAS Chinford for Operational Flying Training 1916. He served in RNAS Eastchurch for Bombing and Gunnery Training 1916. He served in RNAS Eastchurch for Day and Night Operational Workups 1916. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 1916. He served in RNAS Mudros for 2 Wing RNAS for Air Operations against Turkish forces in the Aegean 1916. While on a reconnaisance flight over the Dardenelles he was shot down near Hamidge and made a Prisoner of War at Afiou-Kara-Hissar Turkey on 17/02/1917. He was repatriated to Canada and demobilized in 1918.
