Anecdotes
A family member wrote to Captain Hill Wilson saying "Alex Cameron went to sea as a boy in the Blue Funnel Line, taken on as an apprentice and passed his Board of Trade Extra-Master certificate. He moved to Vancouver in April 1913 as Mate in the Union Steamship of Canada's [British Columbia] Venture. In May 1914 he joined the Coastwise Steamship & Barge Co. During the Second World War he took a ship from Vancouver to the UK when there were no qualified Master's available. " Another family member stated that "Captain Cameron had an on-going love affair with his ships and kept a little black book recording all their little bad habits and their good points. He kept his own rough log of each ship he moved recording details of move, courses, times and names of captain and chief officer."
