He was appointed as a Ensign USN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (jg) USN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant USN. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander USN, (On Loan from the USN to the RCN) 1965. He served in HMCS Shearwater for HS-50 Squadron 1965 (He was returned from the RCN to the USN)
