Biography
After his naval service he obtained an MA from Dalhousie, started teaching political science at Saint Mary’s, and later obtained a Ph.D. from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. Guy was very active in the faculty union and was chair for many years. He retired in 2006 from Saint Mary’s after 40 years of teaching.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCN 1952. He was appointed as an Able-Seaman (Radio) RCN. He served in HMCS Micmac. (CFR) He was appointed as an Instructor Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 02/01/1955). He served in HMCS Donnacona for UNTD 1954-1955. (Transferred to RCN) He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (S) RCN (With seniority dated 08/05/1959). He served in VS881, HMCS Hochelaga, HMCS Cape Scott, RCAF Centralia, HM Supply Depot Halifax, HMC Dockyard Halifax, was the officer in charge of Central Victualling Depot and supply officer of HMCS Chaudiere. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (S) RCN. He resigned in 1966. (He was released.)
