He was ordained in the United Church of Canada.

 

Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCN(R) 1947. In 1947 he served in HMCS Brunswicker for UNTD. In 1948 he was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R). He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1951). He served in HMCS Brunswicker 1951. In 1953 he served in HMCS Scotian. (He was released.)
