Biography
He was the father of Charles J. Clayton. His home given variously as Pipestone, Manitoba (probable birthplace). He was living in Victoria BC working on the staff of the Daily Colonist newspaper at the time of his recruitment. He took flying instruction at the Curtiss Flying School in Toronto ON and passed the flying test on 06/09/1916. After the war he was employed by the Canadian Air Board. He became a Dentist in Victoria, graduating U of T Faculty of Dentistry in 1924.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS (With seniority dated 06/09/1916) in Ottawa ON. He served in RNAS Calshot 18/03/1917 under instruction. He served in RNAS Felixstowe 1917. He was appointed as a Captain (RAF). (He was released.)
