He was a farmer at the time of his recruitment into the navy. He is buried in PLYMOUTH (WESTON MILL) CEMETERY Naval Con. C. 3810.

He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RNCVR. He was appointed as a Leading Seaman RNCVR. He served in HMS Vivid (Devonport) (He died on duty).
