He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/10/1948). He served in HMCS Star for UNTD 1948. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (S) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1949). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant (S) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1951). (He was released 27/08/1953.)
