Military Service
(Short Service Appointment 15/01/1954). He was appointed as a Midshipman (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 15/01/1954). He served in HMCS Cornwallis for Junior Aviation Officers Basic Training course 1954. He served in HMCS Quebec for Sea Training 1954. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 25/01/1955). He served in HMCS Niagara for Pilot Training With USN 1955. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (P) (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 25/01/1956). He served in HMCS Shearwater and HMCS Bonaventure for Duty With VF-870 Squadron as Pilot 1957. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) (SSA) RCN. (On October 02, 1957 he crashed at sea in a Banshee jet from HMCS Bonaventure and was presumed dead. He disappeared on a 30 mile flight from HMCS Bonaventure to HMCS Shearwater. Minutes after take off he reported that he was ditching.)
