He retired in 1995 as Comptroller at Oland's Breweries in his private career.

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1949 (with seniority dated 22/02/1950). He served in HMCS Scotian (St. FX tender) for UNTD 1949-1951. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/09/1952). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R). He served in HMCS Scotian 1963. He was appointed as a Commander (NR) 1971. He served in HMCS Scotian as Commanding Officer 1971-1974. (He was released.)
