Military Service
He was appointed as an Officer Cadet 1936. In 1936 he served in the Royal Military College of Canada. He was appointed as a Midshipman RCNVR 1937. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) RCNVR (With seniority dated 28/05/1939). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (A) RCNVR (With seniority dated 28/05/1940). He served in HMS Illustrious. He served in HMS Pursuer. He served in HMCS Niobe for 881 Squadron (RNAS Gannet). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (A) RCNVR. He served in 881 Squadron as Commanding Officer. (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate).

Anecdotes
He wond his pilot wings in 1937. He served in the landings at Salerno and Naples. He shot down a German reconnaisance plane. In 1944 he served in the invasion of southern France. In 1942 he served as a Grumman Wildcat pilot in the invasion of Madagascar. He was Mentioned in Despatches for his conduct in the Plymouth Raids. He participated in the air attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz. He was killed in an air crash 24/06/1944 while attached to RAF Milfield.
