He was the son of Air Marshal George Mitchell Croil RCAF.

 

Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1951. In 1951 he served in HMCS Malahat for UNTD. He served in the Royal Military College of Canada for UNTD 1953. He was appointed as an Ordnance Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). (He was released.)
