He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (NROUTP) RCN(R) 1970. In 1970 he served in HMCS Scotian for ROUTP. In 1974 he was promoted to A/Sub-Lieutenant (MARS) (With seniority dated 01/09/1971). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (MARS) (With seniority dated 01/09/1972). . He was deployed to Canadian Arctic in CCGS John A Macdonald as Navres officer 1973. (Transferred to RCN 04/1974) He completed MARS IV training August 1974. He served in HMCS Nipigon. He attended the DNO course 1975. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (MARS). He served in HMCS Fraser as Navigating Officer 1975-1977. He served in NOTC Esquimalt as Navigation Instructor 1977-1979. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (N) (With seniority dated 1/01/1978). He served in HMCS Athabaskan as Navigating Officer 1979-1980. He attended the Combat Control Officer's Course 1980-1981. He served in HMCS Annapolis as Operations Officer and Combat Officer 1981-1982. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (MARS) (With seniority dated 1/05/1982). In 1982-1984 he was Operations Officer and Combat Control Officer and Chief Staff Officer of the First Canadian Destroyer Squadron. In 1984 he attended the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College. In 1985 he served at the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College on the Naval Planning Staff. He was appointed as a Commander (MARS) (With seniority dated 1/01/1986). In 1986-1988 he was on the staff of the Directorate of Naval Requirements as Section Head Communications/C2 and Major Surface Ship programs (CPF, TRUMP, NFR-90). In 1988-1989 he served in HMCS Provider as Executive Officer. He served in HMCS Kootenay (In command) 1989-1991. In 1991 he was promoted to Captain (MARS) (With seniority dated 1/01/1991). In 1991 he served in NDHQ for Language School for Japanese Language Training and was appointed as Canadian Forces Attache Tokyo in 1992-1995. He atteded French language training 1996-1997. In 1995 he was appointed as Commander of the Maritime Operations Group Two. He was appointed as a Commodore (CF) (With seniority dated 15/06/1997). In 1997 he was appointed to NDHQ as Director General Naval Personnel. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral (With seniority dated 01/01/2000). He was appointed to NDHQ as the Chief of Staff to the Assistant Deputy Minister (Human Resources) 2000. He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral (CF) (With seniority dated 21/07/2004). In 2004 he was promoted Vice-Admiral and appointed Canadian Military Representative to NATO in Brussels Belgium. (He was released 31/07/2008.) |
