He was a Pilot with Ontario Lands and Forests Department at Sioux Lookout ON before World War Two.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) (Temp.) RCNVR 01/04/1942). He served at Dartmouth NS as Pilot 1942. He served at Yarmouth NS for #1 Telegraphist Air Gunner School in 742 RN Squadron 1944. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (P) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1945). (He was demobilized.) (He was an Executive Branch officer qualified as a pilot for naval aviation under AFO 5025/1941.)
