His home was in Toronto ON at the time of his recruitment. He attended University of Toronto earning a degree in Applied Science and Engineering. He learned to fly at the Curtiss Flying School in Toronto ON passing on 30/07/1915. |

He served in #8 (Naval) Squadron - also known as #8 Seaplane Squadron, Zanzibar. He served in #231 Squadron 27 October 1918; repatriated 2 April 1919. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross "In recognition of the gallantry and devotion to duty shown by him in carrying out reconnaissance, bombing and photographic flights during the military operations in the Lindi (East Africa) area." |
