He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1962. In 1962 he served in HMCS York for UNTD. (He was released.) (Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as an A/Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1964). He served in HMCS York. He was appointed as a Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1964). He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1967). (He was released.)
