He was a telegraph operator at the time of his recruitment into the navy.

 

Military Service
He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (4th Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/03/1916). He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (3rd Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/02/1917). In 1917-1918 he served in HMCS Lady Evelyn (Auxiliary Patrol Ship) as Wireless Telegraph Operator. (He was demobilized.)
