He was appointed as a Mate RNCVR (With seniority dated 18/06/1918). Additional to HMCS Niobe 1918, (Transferred to RCNR). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCNR (With seniority dated 19/11/1924). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCNR (With seniority dated 19/11/1932). Commander (Retired) RCNR (With seniority dated 25/02/1938) (Promoted from the Lieutenant-Commanders List), (Mobilized for World War Two service). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCNR (With seniority dated from 19/11/1932), Cartier (In command) 1939. He served in HMCS Avalon II, Commander (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated from 18/09/1939). He served in HMCS Avalon
