His home was in Ottawa where he was a student before his military service.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 10/12/1915) in Ottawa ON. He arrived in the UK 10/12/1915. He served in RNAS Chingford for Training 1915. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 10/12/1915). He served in #2 Wing RNAS 1916. He served in RNAS East Fortune 24/05/1916. He served in #2 Wing 10/10/1916. He was stationed in the eastern Mediteranean and bombed Balkan and Turkish bridges and on the Maritza River. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 01/04/1917). (Transferred to RAF) 1918. He was appointed as a Captain RAF 1918. (He was demobilized.) (He had World War Two service) He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross "In recognition of their services in a bombing attack on the Kulei Burges bridge on January 4th, 1917, when several direct hits were scored and considerable damage done. The machines were exposed to anti-aircraft, rifle and machine-gun fire during the attack, and also on the return journey."
