After his naval service he worked as a management consultant with KPMG and Coopers Lybrand.

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR. He served in #14 Elementary Flying Training School 1943. He served in #31 Service Flying Training School 1943. In 1943 he served in HMS Heron. He served in #9 AFU 1944. He served in #1 NAFS 1944. He served in H.M.S. Goldcrest for 748 RN Squadron 1944. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 22/12/1944). He served in H.M.S. Pursuer for 898 Squadron (Hellcat) 1945, (Transferred to RCN) 1944. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RCN (With seniority dated 22/12/1944).
