Biography
He was living at Ottawa ON when he was recruited into the navy. He graduated from the uNiversity of Ottawa in medicine 1964. He was General surgeon at Hôpital Montfort since 1970 and President of the Council of Physicians from 1987 to 1989 and from 2002 to 2005. From 1964 to 1970, he specialized in general surgery at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He joined the department of general surgery of Montfort Hospital in December 1969. During the next 34 years at Montfort Hospital, he served one term as head of the department of general surgery and three terms as president of the medical staff. He was a member of the medical staff of St. Vincent Hospital for ten years. A founding member of the Ottawa-Carleton District Health Council, twice president of the Academy of Medicine Ottawa, Dr. Dufour was the representative of the French section of the Ontario Medical Association for many years. A long-time president of the alumni committee of his Faculty of medicine, he received in 2004 the Alumni Award for Community Service from the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine. Since his retirement in 2004, Dr. Dufour is a member of the board of directors of Ste. Anne Clinic and is a part-time assistant in the operating room at Montfort Hospital.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1959. In 1959 he served in HMCS Carleton for UNTD. (He was released.)
