He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 18/07/1941). He served in HMCS Elk (in command) 1941. He served in HMCS Vegreville (In command) 1943. He served in HMCS Arnprior (In command) 1945. He was Mentioned in Despatches for his actions in Operation Neptune 1944. (He was demobilized.)
