While he was Commodore-Governor of Newfoundland he ordered the construction of prisons in Ferryland, Bonavista and Carbonear. |

He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN in 1703. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 26/02/1713). He served in HMS Weymouth (In command) 1713. He served in HMS Gibraltar (In command) with Commodore Thomas Kempthorne (in HMS Worcester) was charged with enforcing the Treaty of Utrecht on the Newfoundland fishing grounds in 1715.) He commanded vessels in the Baltic and in the Medierranean. He served in HMS Orford (In command) 1718 and served with distinction in the Battle of Cape Passaro (coast of Sicilly). He was appointed Commander-in-Chief and Commodore-Governor of Newfoundland in 1732. Falkingham's term as Governor ended in 1733. He retired from sea service 1742. He was a Commissioner of Port Mahon in Minorca and Woolwich. (He was retired in 1755.) |
