(Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (SSA) RCN. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 15/08/1956). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 15/08/1956). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 14/07/1959). (Selected for permanent commission). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VS-880 Squadron as Operational Pilot 1965. (He was released.)
