He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNVR. He served in #14 Elementary Flying Training School. He served in #5 Service Flying Training School. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) (Temp.) RNVR. He served in 750 (RN) Squadron. He served in H.M.S. Condor for 753 RN Squadron 1940-1941.
