He was appointed as a Wireless Learner RNCVR (With seniority dated 23/08/1917). In 1917 he served in HMCS Niobe as Addional for Duty and Instruction at Naval Wireless Telegraph School. (He was demobilized.) (He was mobilized for Second World War service) He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SB) (Communications) (RCNVR) (With seniority dated 02/10/1940). He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (SB) (Communications) (RCNVR) (With seniority dated 01/07/1942). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (SB) (Communications) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1944). He served in NHQ. (He was demobilized.)
