Biography
He was qualified as a lawyer. He practiced law in Winnipeg and Brandon, in the early 1960s before teaching law at the University of Manitoba for a short stint, and then teaching at the Faculty of Law, University of Alberta. He studied at the University of Washington and earned his Masters degree in Library Management, and took on the role of Librarian at the U of A Law Library. He was the Chief Librarian, Supreme Court of Canada, from 1980 - 1982. He was appointed as the Chief Librarian for the University of Alberta as a whole, taking on responsibility for physical expansion, employees, and senior administration within the University. In 1989 he took on the role as Executive Director for the Law Society of Alberta.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 02/01/1956). He served in HMCS Chippawa for UNTD 1955-1958. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1957). In 1957 he served in HMCS Chippawa. (He was released 1962.)
