He was the son of Commander W.J. Fricker.

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (S) RCN (With seniority dated 06/02/1949). He served in HMCS Naden for Supply Course 1949. He served in Bayonne NJ for First RCN Supply Course in USN 1949. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant (S) RCN (With seniority dated 01/02/1949). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (S) RCN (Appointed 01/02/1950) (With seniority dated 01/02/1949). He served in HMCS Micmac as Supply Officer 1950. He served in HMCS New Liskeard as Supply Officer 1951. He served in NHQ in Secretariat 1952. He served in HMCS Donnacona for Naval Supply Depot 1954.
