Bill Clearihue reports that "He is a grandson of Charles E Frosst, the founder of what later became part of the pharmaceutical giant Merck Frosst. Alan represents the family and their philanthropic scholarships in Medicine and Pharmacy across Canada, but particularly at McGill in Montreal, where the company started. UNTDs are of the age to well remember having taken 217s, 222s, 292s etc (aspirin, caffeine, codeine) for headaches. These were signature Frosst products. Precursors were used by Canadian troops on the front in WWI." |
